Production Paintings For "Animals United" | Produktionsillus für "Die Konferenz der Tiere"

In the beginning of 2008, Holger Tappe, Head of Ambient Entertainment Film production, asked me to develop some key images for a teaser trailer for the upcoming cgi movie "Animals United".

The idea was to show how the animals are taking possession of New York. Due to this, I did some research concerning the City of New York. The scene should take place in the morning, and so I decided to choose a slightly yellow/green color appearance. In addition to that, I wanted to evoke the impression that the sun is beginning to displace the fog. You can see the result on YouTube. The image with the yellow cabs can be seen in the official music video of Xavier Naidoo & Naturally 7.

The movie came to german cinemas in october 2010. It became one of the most succsessful german movies in 2010 and is now nominated for "Deutscher Filmpreis".

Anfang 2008 bat mich Holger Tappe, Chef der Ambient Entertainment Film Produktion, Bilder für einen Teaser Trailer für den neuen 3D-Film „Konferenz der Tiere“ zu entwerfen.

Im Trailer sollte gezeigt werden, wie die Tiere New York einnehmen. Die Szenerie sollte am Morgen spielen, und so entschied ich mich für eine eher gelblich/grünliche Farbstimmung. Ich wollte den Eindruck erwecken, dass die Sonne im Begriff ist, den Nebel zu verdrängen. Das Ergebnis lässt sich auf YouTube ansehen. Das Bild mit den Yellow Cabs hat es immerhin noch in das Musikvideo zum offiziellen Titelsong mit Xavier Naidoo & Naturally 7 („Wild vor Wut“) geschafft..

„Die Konferenz der Tiere“ war der zweiterfolgreichste deutsche Film 2010 und ist aktuell für den deutschen Filmpreis nominiert.

The Ancient Egypt | Das alte Ägypten

At the beginning of this year a very dream of mine came true: German children magazin "GEOlino" asked for some illustrations about "The Ancient Egypt". At last I made 11 images to illustrate a set of riddles.

Anfang des Jahres ist für mich ein kleiner Traum in Erfüllung gegangen: Ich durfte für die GEOlino - die Kinderausgabe der GEO - illustrieren. Genauer gesagt für eine Sonderausgabe über „Das alte Ägypten.“ 11 Bilder sind es geworden, die eine Rätselstrecke illustrieren.

Storyboard

I just remember a storyboard-job that I worked on a few months ago. The client was Continental, manufacturer of tires. The commercial was made for social networks. In order to limit financial risks, there is often only a small budget for this kind of projects. Due to that I kept the storyboard simple.

Ich erinnere mich gerade, dass ich vor ein paar Monaten ein Storyboard für die Garbsener Agentur FirstClassService gezeichnet habe. Auftraggeber war der Reifenhersteller Continental, der fertige Spot lief u.a. in diversen sozialen Netzwerken. „Virales Marketing“ heißt das Zauberwort. Um das Risiko überschaubar zu halten, wird bei solchen Projekten oft mit knappem Budget kalkuliert. Ein einfaches Storyboard reichte daher auch vollkommen aus...

In Love With The Wrong Man | Verliebt in den Falschen

Last week, I was asked to make an illustration sample for german newspaper "Bild" (Yellow Press). They wanted several illustrations for a mini-series, called "The madness about love".

In the end, a colleague of mine, Silke Bachmann got the job.
