R.I.P. Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs has passed away. The founder of Apple died yesterday at the age of 56.

"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

My wife's MacBook seemed to have known what happened as it did not wake up again today. This is really a sad day.

I am interested in Apple since the time Steve Jobs returned to the company in the late 90s, for this was also the time I bought my first computer, an Apple G3 PowerMac. Since that time, I made it a habit to check out the latest news on apple in the morning. Today, this were bad news.

Steve Jobs made Apple a company with no compromise, creating such beautiful devices like the iMac, the Macbook Air and the iPhone. And since those things are part of my daily life, he kind of changed my life, too. With him an era has ended. I wish that apple is going to continue what he started, in his senses.

One more thing? Never again. Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs.

Production Paintings For "Animals United" | Produktionsillus für "Die Konferenz der Tiere"

In the beginning of 2008, Holger Tappe, Head of Ambient Entertainment Film production, asked me to develop some key images for a teaser trailer for the upcoming cgi movie "Animals United".

The idea was to show how the animals are taking possession of New York. Due to this, I did some research concerning the City of New York. The scene should take place in the morning, and so I decided to choose a slightly yellow/green color appearance. In addition to that, I wanted to evoke the impression that the sun is beginning to displace the fog. You can see the result on YouTube. The image with the yellow cabs can be seen in the official music video of Xavier Naidoo & Naturally 7.

The movie came to german cinemas in october 2010. It became one of the most succsessful german movies in 2010 and is now nominated for "Deutscher Filmpreis".

Anfang 2008 bat mich Holger Tappe, Chef der Ambient Entertainment Film Produktion, Bilder für einen Teaser Trailer für den neuen 3D-Film „Konferenz der Tiere“ zu entwerfen.

Im Trailer sollte gezeigt werden, wie die Tiere New York einnehmen. Die Szenerie sollte am Morgen spielen, und so entschied ich mich für eine eher gelblich/grünliche Farbstimmung. Ich wollte den Eindruck erwecken, dass die Sonne im Begriff ist, den Nebel zu verdrängen. Das Ergebnis lässt sich auf YouTube ansehen. Das Bild mit den Yellow Cabs hat es immerhin noch in das Musikvideo zum offiziellen Titelsong mit Xavier Naidoo & Naturally 7 („Wild vor Wut“) geschafft..

„Die Konferenz der Tiere“ war der zweiterfolgreichste deutsche Film 2010 und ist aktuell für den deutschen Filmpreis nominiert.

Exhibition | Ausstellung

My first exhibition of watercolor paintings ("Impressions Of Luneburg") is going to take place during march 2011. A vernissage is scheduled for february 25th, 18-19pm in the timbered hall of "Domäne Scharnebeck". The exhibition itself is being shown in the townhall of Scharnebeck, near Luneburg. Im März 2011 findet meine erste Aquarelle-Ausstellung mit Lüneburger Motiven statt. Veranstaltungsort ist das Rathaus in Scharnebeck, zuvor gibt es am 25. Februar von 18-19 Uhr eine Vernissage im Fachwerksaal der Domäne Scharnebeck. Der Eintritt zu beiden Veranstaltungen ist frei!
